Roswell Graves

Roswell Graves was born on 2 July 1799 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.1 He was the son of Benjamin Graves and Lucy Arnold.2 He has also been reported to have been born on 18 March 1799 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut.3 He married Mary Ann Betts, daughter of Christian Betts and Elizabeth Birch, on 20 March 1820 in Jamestown, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.2 He was a Carpenter in 1850.4 He was the superintendant of the county poor farm in Grant County, Wisconsin, between 1854 and 1858. He was also a Methodist preacher according to his son Roswell's obituary.5 He lived in Haney, Crawford County, Wisconsin, in 1880. He died on 15 February 1882 in Haney, Wisconsin, at age 82.1 He has also been reported to have died on 18 February 1882 at age 82.2 He was buried in Graves Cemetery, Barnum, Crawford County, WisconsinG.1
