Physician and informant A. Graham. The London and Middlesex branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has transcribed Dorchester Union Cemetery. This shows the death date for Ann as 24 August, 1898. This agrees with the death date on her death registration. Ann's maiden name, Bradley, is taken from her 1846 marriage registration. By way of a comment: Dan Buchanan, per such information we may find in census information, came to Canada from Ireland, evidently spending some time in New Brunswick. His first born child, Mary Jane, was born in New Brunswick in 1848. By the time of the 1851 census, begun in January of 1852, Dan and Ann were residing in North Dorchester Township of Middlesex County. Moves such as theirs were at times rather part and parcel of an extended family migration. If Dan came out to Canada with siblings, this has yet to be found. Ann, at first glance, does not appear to have siblings in North Dorchester. Such records as have been found for South Dorchester, a small township in Elgin County, due south of North Dorchester, do not appear to have Bradleys residing there. Immediately south of South Dorchester, however, is the quite large township of Malahide in Elgin County. This has numbers of Bradleys residing there and includes Bradleys born in New Brunswick. It does seem likely that some of these Bradleys were family connections. No direct record has been found to confirm this. |
