First Esther: Her death registration shows her date of birth as 26 September, 1861. The 1901 census, however, shows her date of birth as 26 September, 1862. Since she was probably present at the time the enumerator called, 1862 is rather more likely. Her age in this census is shown as 38. Mitchell's date of birth is poorly written on the 1901 census page, but his age is shown as 48. That he was born on 15 April is written clearly enough. His year of birth, given his age, is shown as 1852. An index for Ingersoll Rural Cemetery as provided by Oxford County Libraries shows his years of birth and death as 1852-1916. |
