The London & Middlesex OGS transcription of Dorchester Union Cemetery shows Dan's death as occurring on Dec. 11, 1899. Census information consistently tells that Dan was born in Ireland.

The D. Buchanan property in North Dorchester was on the Thames River, Concession 5, Lot 17. Per an 1878 atlas, he held 120 acres.

The 1851 census in North Dorchester Township in Middlesex County shows Dan as Presbyterioan and Ann as Church of England. As well, daughter Mary Jane is shown as being Church of England.

By 1861 the family, still in North Dorchester, are shown as Wesleyan Methodist.
