ID # 5932, (1846-1924)
Father | John Black (1820-1885) |
Mother | Helen Bone (1818-1855) |
Birth | Jamieson Bone Black was born on 4 March 1846 at Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. |
Christening | He was christened on 5 April 1846 at Dunbar, East Lothian. |
Marriage | He married Mary Houston on 20 December 1871 at Port Dalhousie, Lincoln County. Mrge reg. Port Dalhousie, Lincoln Co. Jameson Bos. Black, 25, bachelor, miller, Presbyterian. Born Scotland, residing Port Dalhousie. Parents John and Ellen Black. Mary Houston, 21, spinster, Church of England. Born Canada, residing Port Dalhousie. Parents William and Mary Houston. Witnesses Ransom Read and John K. Black, Port Dalhousie. On Dec. 20th, 1871, at Port Dalhousie, by Rev. Alex Dixon. |
Marriage | He married Carrie Martin on 16 November 1903 at Midland, Simcoe County, Ontario. Mrge reg. 017244-03 Midland, Simcoe Co. Jameson Bos. Block, 56, widower, miller, Roman Catholic. Born Belhaven, Scotland, residing Midland. Parents John Block and Helen Bone. Carrie Martin, 45, spinster, Roman Catholic. Born Dunnville, residing Midland. Parents John Martin and Caroline Dittrick. Witnesses William Sweet of Midland and Maria Louise Arbour of Victoria Harbor. On Nov. 16, 1903, at Midland, by L. A. Borcelo, at the 3 times reading of the banns. The above marriage registration from the point of the witnesses onward is in some doubt. Whether the registration is viewed on Familysearch or Ancestry, the registration stretches across two pages. The image of the left half of the registration is no doubt correct and is reflected in the 1911 and 1921 censuses. The difficulty with the right half of the registration is that it presents the couple as being Roman Catholic when their census information shows them as Presbyterian. This could be a clerical error, or perhaps at the time of microfilming the page halves were mixed up. Unquestionably, the handwriting on both halves of the registration is by the same hand, the registrar at the town of Midland. |
Death | He died on 27 July 1924 at St. Catharines, Lincoln County, Ontario, at age 78. |
Burial | He was buried at St. Andrews Presbyterian Cemetery, Port Dalhousie. |
