| Note | Elizabeth and James are buried in section 2 of Mountview Cemetery. James died before The Galt Cemetery (later known as Mountview) was opened and will have been buried at the First Church Cemetery in what is now High Park. Stones and remains were taken to Mountview in the mid 1880s and the family evidently arranged a plot at the time. The stone for Elizabeth Buchanan Keachie, at the time of transcription in 1984 was evidently in bad condition and nearly unreadable. The cemetery, however, had a burial card and the Waterloo branch of the OGS fell back on this to record the presence of her remains in the burial plot. She is shown as Elizabeth Buchanan Keachie on the card.
Microfilm N175 reel 11 has a copy of the Dumfries Reformer, Galt, issue of May 11, 1882. This has a death notice for Elizabeth, which clearly states that she was a sister of Alexander Buchanan. |
