NoteThe 1851 census at Nissouri West Township in Middlesex County shows Esther with her husband Charles. She is 29, shown as being born in New Brunswick, and he is 44. With them is, apparently, a son named Isaac Genl. Hoyt Vrooman. It is now found that his correct name was Isaac Gent Hoyt Vrooman. (See notes under his grandfather, Raymond Hoyt.)

With the Charles Vroomans in Nissouri West in 1851 are Esther's parents Raymond Hoyt, age 71, born U.S. and Elinor Hoyt, age 63, born Nova Scotia. Raymond and Elinor are still living at the time of the 1861 census, but they are living with Munson Hoyt in Brantford. There, Elinor is shown as Mrs. Hoyt.

There is a bit more to go on, however, for Raymond and Elinor are buried with Munson Hoyt in Greenwood Cemetery in Brantford. Their stone shows Raymond's date of death as August 4, 1861, with his age given as 86. His wife is shown as Elizabeth Eleanor Hoyt, age 74 with date of death being December 21, 1863. On the 1861 census page is also shown a Samuel Hoyt, apparently a son of Raymond and Elinor's. Greenwood shows his date of death as September 1897.

A correspondent has kindly provided a transcription for the Vrooman family as they appear in Fremont Township Cemetery in Sanilac County, Michigan. It would appear that Esther's stone was badly worn at the time, but it seems that she died in 1883. A death registration has not been found.
