NoteHoyt Vrooman, as he seems to have been known in later years, had, per the 1851 census taken at West Nissouri, the full name of Isaac Gent Hoyt Vrooman. Based on information relating to his mother's parentage, it seems reasonable that this is correct.

At first glance, the 1881 census at Caradoc seems to show two couples in the household. The image as shown by Ancestry shows the head of the house as Hoyt Vrooman, age 20 something; next is Mary Elloner, age 23; next is Charles Vrooman, age 73, and Esther, age 57. An improved image is to be found with Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and it makes it clear that Hoyt's age is 28. With this, we may compare this census with the 1871 census and it becomes clear that Mary Elloner is Hoyt's sister.

Hoyt married Mary E. Sanderson, age 26, born Canada, in Speaker, Sanilac, Michigan, on 24 October, 1894, some four months after his father's death.

We do not know just when the family moved to Sanilac, Michigan.

Hoyt and Mary did not have a long life together for he died only four years later.
