As noted, Eliza is said to have been born in Waterloo. This could be the village, though it more likely refers to the township. There does seem to have been a connection with George and the Chandler family and the town of Preston, which is in Waterloo Township, but just what this was remains unclear.

NoteOur earliest record for Eliza Main is the 1861 Canadian census, and here she was enumerated twice. She appears with several siblings in her father's household in Beverly Township; she also appears in the household of Elam Vrooman in Garafraxa Township. There she is shown as Eliza Main, age 17, servant. Of course, she is the sister of Mrs. Elam Vrooman, so presented on the census page - Caroline Main.
