| Note | For the present, we have little information about Margaret Chandler. We do not know the date of her birth, her marriage, or her death or place of burial. At a guess, she is buried in Sheffield Cemetery and her stone has not survived, or at least not in legible condition. We do know of her name from marriage information for some of her children who settled in Michigan and the death registration of her daughter Caroline Main Vrooman. Marriages for the children of Margaret Chandler in Michigan give her middle initial as A; the biography of son Charles in the 1884 Mecosta biographies gives her middle name as Ann. Margaret's children who settled in Mecosta County in Michigan seem fairly consistent that their mother was born in New York (State). When Caroline Main Vrooman died in Orangeville, Ontario, in 1932, her daughter gave Margaret's place of birth as England. The Mecosta children also believed that their father, George, was born in Pennsylvania, however New Jersey is likely correct. Cornell's history of Beverly originates the Main family in New Jersey. |
