NoteGeorge appears in the 1880 US census at Millbrook Township, Mecosta County, Michigan, with his parents and siblings and, here, he has the appearance of being the first of his parents' children born in Michigan. He is shown as George T.

His birth registration appears on a page that nowhere mentions Mecosta County, but all 15 births registered on the page are shown as being in Millbrook.

His name was evidently originally misregistered, being shown as George C. Rulefson. A corrected dated 5-26-48 was entered to show his name as George Theodore Roelofson. The spelling of his father's surname was corrected and his mother's maiden name of Main was entered by way of a correction, though on the original page the mothers' names were all entered the same as that of the father.
