On 17 January 1860 Rosemary Ambrose extracted marriage notices from the Dumfries Reformer, 1860-65. Noted is the 18th January 1860 edition of the paper which tells of the marriage of James and Janet on the 17th. The notice locates the marriage in Beverly and tells that Janet is the 3rd daughter of Alexander Harvey (Harvie). The marriage should have been recorded in the Wentworth County marriage register, but the Harvie residence, in Beverly, was only a short distance along a side road from North Dumfries Township. |

Note | See United Church of Canada Archives microfilm LCM-30 for the baptism record of Janet Harvie. The book is not page numbered, but her baptism is shown as number 150. Janet's baptism date is shown as January 24, 1838. This would agree with her age as shown in her death registration as 47 years, 2 months, which would place her birth in November of 1837 approximately. Death reg. 017186-85 North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co. Janet Harvie Keachie died 28th January 1885. Age 47 years, 2 months. Born Ontario. Farmer's wife. Presbyterian. Cause of death consumption.
