The above agrees with the date of marriage as shown for Charles and Eliza on page 673 of the 1883 Warner & Beers History of Brant County.

The clergyman, Robert Corson, was the brother of Eliza's mother, Mercy Corson Griffin.

MarriageHe married Mary Ellis Corson, daughter of John Corson and Elizabeth Williams, on 1 January 1846.
The marriage of Charles Nixon and Mary Ellis Corson is reported by Damaris Chase as being June 1, 1845. However, a date of 1 January, 1846, is given in the Friday, January 9, 1846 issue of the Western Globe. No location is given, but the couple is identified as Charles Nixon of Brantford and Mary, eldest daughter of John Corson of Westminster. This is an extract provided by W. Craig Burtch, 2008, in The London Papers, Vol 15, The Western Globe, October 1845 - May 1851, Births, Marriages, and Deaths, Global Heritage Press.

Volume 4 of the Annals of the Forty, page 37, Corson, states that Mary was Charles Nixon's second wife.

BurialHe was buried at St. George Cemetery, South Dumfries Twp..
NoteThe Warner & Beers History of Brant County, 1883, page 673, states that Charles Nixon came from Lincoln County in 1839 to Brant County and in that year, on October 23, married Eliza Griffin. She is said to have had two children, both of whom died in infancy. Eliza died May 24, 1844. The history goes on to say that Charles then married Mary E. 'Carson' on January 1, 1846. She is identified as the daughter of John 'Carson' of Westminster. It goes on to say that they had 11 children, '7 of whom survive'. The deceased children are named as Priscilla (noted below); Alice M. (our only reference found so far for this child's name); John C; and Frederick.

Murray Fair's transcription for Interment.net of Mount Vernon Cemetery, Brantford Township, tells something of the unhappy story of Eliza Griffin and her two children. The transcription reads:
