| Note | The Annals of the Forty identifies the husband of Sarah Hamill as John Aikman. It's reasonable to accept this considering that the burial records of St. John's Anglican Church in Ancaster show Sarah and John as being buried together. They show Sarah with the middle initial A. and her maiden name as Hammill. Buried with them, according to the burial record, is their son Samuel Hammill Aikman who died in 1873. Death reg. 016712-82 Collingwood, Simcoe County Sarah Aikman died 27 August, 1882. Age 82. Widow. Born Canada. English Church. Physician Dr. Aikman, informant R. P. Aikman. Registration filed at Collingwood 29th August. Robert Peel Aikman, John and Sarah's son, was a physician and his mother was evidently living with him in Collingwood at the time of her death. We have a conflict here between the death registration, which dates Sarah's death in Collingwood to August 27, 1882, and St. John's Anglican, Ancaster's burial record which dates her burial to the same date. |
