Stewart, Methodist Episcopal Church. Witness Jane Coleman will be the daughter of Dan Coleman and Mary Able. She would be a first cousin of Allen's. The marriage registrations of this era do not typically provide the place of marriage. The registration was to be entered in the registration book of the county where the marriage took place, but this is likely not always certain. The clergyman, however, was of the Methodist Episcopal Church and since there was such a church at Troy, this is the probable location of the marriage. |

Note | At the time of the 1871, Allen and Carlinda are in Middleton Township in Norfolk County. Allen is shown as a farmer. The family is shown as Episcopal Methodist. Present are children John G., age 4; Clarence E., age 5, (his middle initial must have stood for Edward for he was so known in later census information); and Randilla, age 1. By 1881, Carlinda is deceased and Allen is with his second wife Mary Russell. Present are John, 15; Edward, 11; Randilla, 10; Elizabeth, 8; Orvell, 4; and Margarette, 10 months- born May. By 1891, the family is in Beverly where Allen is shown as a merchant. With Allen and Mary are Elizabeth 19; Orval 14; and Retta, 11. Roy, born in 1885, is not present. A death registration for Roy has not been found, but he is likely deceased. Death reg. 026891-97 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. Allen Cumming died Apr. 23, 1897, age 50. Residence lot 8, concession 3.
