| Marriage | She married John Husband, son of George Husband and Elizabeth White, in 1818 at Ireland. The transcription of Henry Husband's diary states: I can give no particulars of my parents marriage in 1810. 'In 1810' appears to be an interpolation by the transcriber, perhaps from the family bible. This does not appear in Henry's diary, the image of which is available online. Henry simply says: I can give no particulars of my parents marriage. Having said that, the 1861 census in Nassagaweya Township of Halton County, shows John Husband, age 79, living with son William Husband. Alicia is still living, but, sadly, in the Toronto asylum. There is a column in the 1861 census, not always filled out, that appears to show John's year of marriage as 1810. With caution, and an examination of the enumerator's handwriting, and, more specifically, the formation of his number 8's, we may say that John was married in 1818. The number 8 appears on this census page aplenty. A close examination should allay any doubts. |

| Note | In Henry's diary he notes that his mother is buried in St. James Anglican Cemetery in Toronto and that her gravestone is plain with her name, shown as Alice Napier, inscribed in a curved manner. He goes on to say that her name was properly Alicia and that he wishes the names of his parents with their years of birth and death to appear on his gravestone. A transcription, however, of this cemetery, one provided by the Halton-Peel branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, is to hand, and this does not mention John and Alicia or any other Husband family member. This transcription was done in 1976 and updated in 1981. Death reg. 011562-73 Toronto, York Co. Alice Husband died august 31, 1873. Age 70. Weaver's wife. Born Ireland. Exhaustion of age. Church of England. Informant was her physician, but his name is illegible. |
