Henry Edward Bumsted, 20, bachelor, farmer, Methodist. Born England, residing Sullivan (Twp). Parents Samuel Bumsted and Mary Ann Abbott.
Mary Ann Markle, 20, spinster, Methodist. Born Canada, residing Holland. Parents Gilbert Markle and Matilda Wilket.
Witnesses Walter Markle and Eliza Markle.
On 3rd November, 1870, in Sullivan Township, by Josias Green, Wesleyan Methodist.

Holland, which is shown as Mary Ann's place of residence, is almost certainly Holland Township, which was immediately to the east of Sullivan Township (both being in Grey County.) There is a Holland Centre in Holland Township and it is possible that this was intended, but given the registrar's usage, the township is almost certainly what was intended.

When Mary Ann gave her mother's maiden name, the clergyman probably wrote down what he heard. Gilbert Markle's obituary shows his wife's name as being Matilda Walcot.

MarriageShe married Samuel Dodds on 10 October 1883 at Chatsworth, Sullivan Twp., Grey Co..
Mrge reg. 003696-83 Sullivan Twp., Grey Co.
Samuel Dodds, 45, widower, farmer, Presbyterian. Born Toronto, residing Derby Township. Parents James and Mary Dodds.
Martha Ann Bumstead, 35, widow, Presbyterian. Born Garafraxa Township, residing Sullivan Township. Parents Gilbert and Matilda Markle.
Witnesses Isabella McFarlane and John McKinnon, both of Chatsworth.
On October 10th, 1883, at Chatsworth, by Rev. David Perry.

Chatsworth is mostly in Holland Township. An old map shows the town to border Sullivan Township. The marriage registration was filed with the Sullivan Township registrar, which should mean that the marriage was conducted in Sullivan. This wasn't always the case, but, probably, is so for the marriage of Samuel and Martha.
