Birth | Frances Jane Whitcombe was born on 2 April 1869 at Toronto, York Co.. |
Marriage | She married Samuel McBride, son of Samuel McBride and Eleanor Anderson, on 11 June 1890 at 20 Soho Street, Toronto, York Co.. Mrge reg. 014883-90 Toronto, York Co. Samuel McBride, 23, bachelor, salesman, Congregationalist. Born and residing Toronto. Parents Samuel and Eleanor McBride. Frances Jane Whitcombe, 21. spinster, Congregationalist. Born and residing Toronto. Parents Thomas and Emma Whitcombe. Witnesses Dick Cashman and Sarah Jane Hussey, both of Toronto. On June 11th, 1890, at 20 Soho Street, Toronto, York Co. by Joseph Wild, D.D. Emma Whitcombe, Frances' mother, had the maiden name of Cashman, so witness, Dick Cashman, was no doubt a member of the family. Beyond that, at least for a time, Emma Cashman Whitcombe appears to be operating a boarding house at 20 Soho Street. This information is inferred from the list of persons listed in the one household in the 1891 census, but also taken from the Might's Directory for Toronto, 1891. Sarah Jane Hussey appears in both. She may simply have been boarding there or she was a family connection. |
