The Waterloo branch of he Ontario Genealogical Society has extractions of marriage notices that appeared in the Dumfries Reformer of Galt for the years of 1853-1859. This lists the marriage of Adam Ferrie Strang of Doon to Elizabeth KInsey on 1 November, 1856, by Rev. T. J. Hodgskin of the Doon Church. This was said to be at Waterloo. This probably did not refer to the town of Waterloo. Hodgskin was the minister of the Presbyterian churches at Doon and Hespeler, a joint charge. Both were within the bounds of Waterloo Township. We do not know if the marriage was held at the church or at a family residence, and it does seem rather unlikely that it was held at Hespeler considering the intervening distance. The marriage was probably held at Doon.

The edition of the Reformer wherein this notice appeared is dated 19 November, 1856.

MarriageShe married Thomas Melville Walker on 18 December 1863 at Waterloo County.

The marriage was probably held at Doon. Rev. McKenzie during this period was minister of the joint charge of the Presbyterian churches at Doon and Hespeler.

Also, the witness, Benjamin Burkholder, was Elizabeth's brother-in-law. He was married to Elizabeth's sister Barbara.

NoteDeath reg. 017821-25 Bosanquet Twp., Lambton Co.
Elizabeth Walker, age 85, widow, housemaid, died 18 September, 1925, at Grand Bend. Place of birth England (wrong). Father's name John Kinsey (correct); mother's name not given, but birth place of both parents shown as England. This is not correct. Physician Dr. Taylor of Dashwood. Informant C. M. Walker, Grand Bend, son. Burial on September 21, 1925, at Ingersoll.

Elizabeth and Thomas's gravestone in Harris Street Cemetery, Ingersoll, dates Elizabeth's year of birth to 1840, and this should be correct. The 1901 census where her date of birth is shown is in faded condition and is hardly readable. She is said to have been born on the 30th of some month, but it could be Jan or Nov. Either way, it's a guess.
