Rev Smith, who performed the above marriage, and Rev. Jackson, who performed William's second marriage, were both clergy at Knox Presbyterian Church in Galt.

There was a fire in the annex of the church in the 1980s and most of the church records were destroyed.

The handwriting of the recording clerk in Galt of the era is at best difficult. The bride's mother's maiden name, Burrow, might be anything, but her name appears on a transcription of Mountview Cemetery in Galt and Burrow matches well enought to the clerk's handwriting to be so interpreted.

Bill McBride, as he was known, is described as a safe maker on most most documentation found for him. It's understood from family stories that he worked for Goldie-McCullough. Your researcher has, within perhaps the past thirty years, been in one or two banks wherein the safe, a large, walk-in sort, such as had safety deposit boxes, showed a Goldie-McCullough insignia.
