ID # 7701, (1803-)
Birth | William Milnes was born in 1803 at Leeds, Yorkshire, England. |
Marriage | He married Phillis Craddock, daughter of Benjamin Craddock and Sarah Wilson, on 14 June 1826 at St. Peters, Leeds, Yorkshire, England. Two sources are available for the marriage of William Milnes and Phillis Craddock. The first is an image from the marriage book at St. Peters Church in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. The image is quite smeared, but is sufficiently readable to agree with the second source which essentially a transcription of the image. This latter is from a database entitled, England, Select Marriages, 1538 1973. The image at first glance is doubtful, for it unquestionably shows the groom as William Mills. Quite reasonably, the transcription shows him as the same. The marriage date is shown as 14 June 1826. The bride is shown as Phillis Craddock The transcription, while found on Ancestry, is taken from FHL film nbr. 0918384-0918386 That William's name was erroneously rendered as Mills rather than Milne should become clear enough when examining the names of the children, one son, Benjamin Craddock Milnes, in particular. |
