Mrge reg. 003344-79 Walpole Twp., Haldimand Co.
Richard Hall, 21, bachelor, yeoman, Episcopalian. Born Canada, residing Walpole. Parents Linas Hall and Vanera Hall.
Jennie E. Pattison, 19, spinster, Episcopalian. Born Canada, residing Walpole. Parents Jesse and Isabell Pattison.
Witnesses Erma Hestont and Sarah Stillwell, both of Walpole.
On November 8, 1878, at Walpole, by Rev. Thomas Stillwell.

That the recording clerk of Walpole wrote the name of Richard's mother as Vanerva probably was a handwriting problem on the part of the reporting clergyman. Evidence shows that her name was Minerva.

The recording clerk probably also had trouble with the handwriting of the clergyman in transcribing the name of Erma Hestont. 'Erma' is written rather awkwardly. This is probably Richard's sister Emily, whose name was betimes recorded as Emma. Her second name is almost certainly Hestont, though the handwriting could be interpreted otherwise. She was Richard Hall's older sister who, some years before, married John Henry Hestont.

DeathShe died on 15 December 1926 at Galt, Waterloo Co..
BurialShe was buried on 17 December 1926 at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Avenue Road, Galt..
NoteSuch information as is available indicates that Jennie Pattison Hall married a second time to a William Murphy. She appears with him in the 1921 census at Galt.

The following death registration has problems.

Death reg. 034050-26 Galt, Waterloo Co.
Jane Murphy died at Galt General Hospital on December 15, 1926. Widowed. Age 65. Born Dunnville, Ontario.
Name of father - don't know.
Name of mother Harriott Patterson, born Ireland.
Physician Dr. J. Leslie King, Galt, Ontario
Informant Charles Hall, Clyde Road, Galt.
Relation to deceased - 'step-son(?).
Burial St. Patrick's Cemetery, Galt, on December 17th, 1926.

Jennie's burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery may be correct, though her name does not appear in a transcription of this cemetery.

Census records support Jennie's family name as Patterson, but her marriage registration to Richard Hall and her parents' marriage registration support the name being Pattison.

Dunnville as a place of birth for Jennie may be correct, or at least nearly so. The 1861 census covered two townships, Moulton & Sherbrooke. If the family was in Moulton, Dunnville is located there also.

Jennie's mother was Isabella, not Harriott.

Jennie's age, 65 as shown, is a little light.

Charles Hall, the informant of her death was her son, not step-son. He was her second husband's step-son.
