Note | The family is in Galt at the time of the 1901 census. Edith Baptie had a sister Hannah. Hannah married a John Waugh and they had a daughter Daisy. Daisy Waugh is with the Buchanan family in Galt at the time of the 1901 census. The family of three is said to be living on Melville Street in Galt at the time of the 1911 census. According to the 1930 census, Alexander Buchanan is living San Antonio, Texas, and immigrated in 1926. He swore out a deposition for purposes of the birth registration of his younger brother, Theron Buchanan Jr. Alexander is still living in San Antonio at the time of the 1940 census, but died shortly after. Edith (Nellie) survived until 1946. Find-a-Grave shows Alex and Edith buried in San Fernando Cemetery. Death registrations for both have been found. Texas Dept of Health Standard Certificate of Death Alexander E. Buchanan died at 1005 N. Olive St. (also his residence), San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, on September 16th, 1940. Born August 26, 1865. Age 75 years, 26 days. Retired coal and wood merchant. Married. Born Canada. Parents Theron Buchanan and Jane Hunt, both born Canada. Informant Mrs. L. F. Hays, 1005 N. Olive St. Burial Sept. 18, 1940, at Roselawn Burial Park. (Alexander's date of birth, 26, August, 1864, is as it appears in the 1901 census at Galt. It's probably the more accurate.) |
