Parents Joseph and Sarah Mariah. Witnesses Thos. Aikins and Jas. Hood, both of Galt On May 12, 1867. Such information as is available seems to link Rev. Chares McKelvey with the New Connection Methodist Church and have him headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario. The above marriage is from a list of six marriages performed in 1867 and registered in Waterloo County. It's tempting to wonder if traveling clergy betimes registered a marriage in the wrong county, but the witnesses for the marriage of George and Almira resided in Galt, so a Waterloo County marriage in this case is probably correct. |

| Note | George and Almira were in Beverly Township at the time of the 1871 census and shown as farming. They were still in Beverly in 1881 and again shown as farming. They are also shown as Methodists. They do not appear in Canada in the 1891 census. The U.S. 1890 census was destroyed by fire and so is no help, but the family is in Tawas Township in Iosco County, Michigan, in the 1900 census. This census shows them as coming to the U.S. in 1886.
