| Birth | Marion (Sally) Haggart was born in 1809. |
| Marriage | She married Duncan Ferguson in 1828 at New York State. See notes for Duncan. Hugh Cant in his undated book indicates that Duncan came to Dumfries Township from Livingston County, New York. The Dickson Papers show the purchase of lot 5 in the 12 concession (the Mill Creek area) on April 1st, 1829. He is said to have cleared a plot for a cabin and then return to Livingston for his wife and their babe (Archibald). Since Archibald was born 3 November, 1828, it seems likely that Duncan an Marion (nickname Sally) Haggart were married earlier that year. Duncan's death registration shows his birth as being in Livingston County. This may or may not be correct, but census information is consistent in showing Duncan's place of birth as the United States. |

| Note | Duncan and Marion (Sally) are buried together in Section 2 of Mountview Cemetery in Galt. Almost certainly, Marion will have been buried first in First Church Cemetery at High Park in Galt and then her remains moved to Mountview in the early 1880s when the High Park Cemetery was razed. Mountview Cemetery was not created until July of 1868. The Waterloo Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society transcribes her stone in section 2 of Mountview as follows: In memory of Sally, consort of Duncan Ferguson, who departed this life Aug. 16, 1839, in the 31st year of...rest of stone buried. Also buried beside Duncan and Sally is a Daniel Haggert, a native of Caledonia, Liv. Co., N.Y. who died Feb 4th, 1852, ae 39. It's a guess, but he is probably Sally's brother. As shown, the name that appears on the stone is Sally. As will be shown in marriage notes for the children of Duncan and Sally, her name does get shown as Marion. There is no evidence that Marion and Sally were separate persons, so either she had two given names or one was a nickname. |
