Angus married twice and the photo of his gravestone as it appears in Riverside Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, shows his wives as Laura Gale, 1850-1884, and Elizabeth McWhirter, 1845-1916. Angus' years of birth and death are shown on his gravestone as 1831-1911. The first record found for Angus is the 1851/52 census in North Dumfries, Waterloo County, Canada West. He has not been found thereafter until the 1880 U.S. census at Penn Township, Osborne County, Kansas. There, he is 44, a carpenter, and born in Canada. His wife is shown as Laura C., age 28. She is shown as being born in Ohio. With them are three children: son Allen, age 7, born Minnesota; Henry, age 3, born North Carolina; and Lizzie, 3 months, born Kansas. By 1900 Angus is in Denver, Colorado, with his wife Elizabeth. She is said to have been born in Scotland. In the 1910 census the couple is still in Denver. |
