The 1851 census for Minto, Arthur, and Luther, and the 1861 census for Arthur, shows an Asa Blanchard ages 55 and 64 respectively. His wife's name is shown as Alice in the 1851 census and as Alice Jane in the 1861 census and she is shown to be one year older than Asa in both enumerations.

Asa is shown as a Baptist in both census years and Alice is shown as being a member of the Church of England. Both census years show Alice as being born in England. The 1851 census shows Asa as being born in the United States; the 1861 census show him as being born in New England.
