| Note | Esther is with her parents at the time of the 1881 census in Arthur Township. An online index indicates that Esther Harper of Arthur was in the Toronto Asylum. She appears there in the 1891, 1901 and 1911 censuses. By 1921 she is in the Ontario Hospital at Whitby. She died there in 1929. The death registration indicates that she was buried in Whitby. This does not designate a particular cemetery. Death reg. 026731-29 Whitby, Ontario County Esther Harper died January 23, 1929, at the Ontario Hospital, Whitby. Single. Age 69, born Ontario. Length of residence at place of death: Jan. 29/20 - Jan. 23/29. Father James Harper, place of birth not known. Mother's name or place of birth not known. Physician Dr. J. S. Stewart. Informant Hospital Records, no trace of relatives since 1891. Place of burial Whitby (actualy cemetery not named.) Date of burial January 24, 1929. A rubber stamp has been applied to the registration and seems to relate to information received at a later date, in this case May 29, 1929. This will be the handwritten entry naming Esther's father (the rest of the registration information being entered by typewriter.) It would suggest that there had been contact with a member of Esther's family. |
