Elizabeth's obituary appears on page 283 and provides us with her date and place of birth, the date of her marriage, and the date of her death. The obituary states that the funeral was in the Troy Methodist Church. Death reg. 019291-83 Beverly Township, Wentworth County Elizabeth Misener died June 9, 1883, age 72 years, 11 months. Widow of late Con'd Misener. Born State of New York. Methodist. Informant Walter Misener, farmer, Beverly. Date registered June 15, 1883. Elizabeth's death registration dates her death to June 9. The gravestone in Troy Cemetery and the obituary that appears in the Christian Guardian date her death to June 8. This is likely correct. A note here: The 1861 census shows Elizabeth (Wells) with her husband Conrad and several children. Also records in the household is Christina 'Walls', age 76, born U.S. Christina's religious persuasion is shown as 'B', apparently Baptist. So far, no other information has been found, but it does seem likely that her name was actually Wells. |
