DeathShe died on 25 October 1918 at Galt, Ont. (In Her 78Th Year).

NoteBased on the available evidence, Emma Mathewson was married twice. Records for both marriages give Emma's middle name as Catherine, which is not seen in any later record.

Her first marriage to Robert Henley must have been of brief duration and we have no evidence for children from this marriage. The marriage record at the parish church of Bromley St. Leonard shows the residence of both Robert and Emma as Bromley. It is clear from the marriage record that Emma's father was James Mathewson, mariner. The witness, Emma Mathewson, can only have been Emma's mother. Robert must surely have died by 1864, for that is the year Emma married William Clark.

We do not have the actual record for Emma's marriage to William Clark, but an index exists placing the marriage in West Ham, Essex County, in June of 1864, or at least in the quarter ending in June.

Will and Emma had several children. According to Emma Clark's will, at the time of her death in 1918, her executors were her sons William Charles Clark and Stephen L. Clark. According to their statement, the living children were as follows:
Thurza DeMill of Galt; George Clark of Lima, Ohio; William Charles Clark of London, Ontario; Stephen L. Clark of Galt; Thomas Clark of Galt; Harry Clark of Toronto; Wesley Clark of Galt; Fred Clark of Keeler, Saskatchewan. Also mentioned in her will were grand daughters Emma Clark of Galt and Ruth Clark also of Galt, and niece-in-law Nellie Himes who was to receive 'old candlesticks and a picture'.
