Information for Wesley Clark's marriage is from the marriage book for Wesley Church, Galt, at the United Church Archives in Toronto. Here, he is 44 and said to be a widower. Rose is almost certainly his second wife. Her parents are shows as Benjamin Wiseman and Millecent Howes. Their license number is D24506. | Note | Wesley was still with his mother in Galt at the time of the 1901 census. Wesley's marriage to Emma Grieves was of some six years. No evidence has been found of a child from that marriage. Wesley was a resident of Galt at the time of his marriage to Charlotte Ardell in 1909, but by the time of the 1911 census, Wesley and Charlotte were living in Guelph. There, later in 1911, we find a record for the birth of their son William Ardell Clark. It is possible that more children were born of this marriage, though no record to this point has been found. It is also possible that there were children of his marriage with Rose Wiseman, but, again, no evidence has been found. A record of a burial card has been found for Rose Wiseman in the same burial plot in Section 5 of Mountview that Wesley is buried in with his first two wives. It may be that there was simply no one left to provide an inscription on the stone. |
