Father | Henry Woolery (1798-) |

Birth | Eunice Elizabeth Woolery was born in 1833 at Canada. |
Marriage | She married John James Vrooman, son of George Laws Vrooman and Margaret Bolton, on 10 January 1855 at Gratiot, Lafayette Co., Wisconsin. On the second day of May, 1865, Francis Scott, Registrar of Deeds in Lafayette Co., Wisconsin, searched for and provided a copy of a registration of marriage for: John James Vroman, farmer, son of George L. Vroman and Margaret Vroman. Residence of the groom is shown as Rush town (or township), Jo Daviess County. His place of birth is given as Canada West. The bride is shown as Eunice Elizabeth Woolery, daughter of Henry Woolery. They were married on 10 January, 1855, at the house of William Levitt in the Town of Gratiot, Lafayette County. The ceremony was that of the Episcopal Church and performed by William Levitt, Justice of the Peace. Also available and provided by FamilySearch.org is a transcription of the marriage of John James 'Vroman' and 'Eunis' Elizabeth Woolery. It reads: Groom John James Vroman, birthplace Canada West. Death | She died on 20 November 1922 at Elmore, Faribault, Minnesota. |
Note | Eunice and her sister Jane are of the Woolery family that settled Matilda Township, Dundas County, Ontario, and descendants of Henry Woolery who appears in the lists of settlers at Matilda Township in 1785 and 1786. Eunice's sister Vermicie Jane Woolery, in her pension application, tells that she remembered Elias Vrooman from as early as she began remembering and that they knew the family at Lake Erie in Canada. Eunice, then, will have known the Vroomans in Canada and were probably residing in Harwich Township prior to 1838 when the Vroomans left for the U.S. Land records for the Woolerys in Harwich have not yet been found. Eunice and her sister Jane appear in the 1850 census in Owen, Winnebago County, Illinois. They are the children of Henry and Sally Woolery. Not long after the death of John Vrooman in 1864 in the Civil War, Eunice married again to a Simon Snider, or Schneider, on 24 April, 1866, in Elmore, Minnesota, and they are in the town of Elmore in Faribault County, Minnesota, at the time of the 1870 census. Son George H. and daughter Araminta are still with her, though are shown as Sniders in this census. The 1880 census at the same place correctly shows George and Araminta as Vroomans. The 1870 census shows Eunice's Snider children as Wm. F., age 2, and Jeremiah, born in February of 1870. The 1880 census shows a Ward, age 11; Andrew Murry, age 7; and Anna Laura, age 5. An index to a death register for Faribault County is provided by Familysearch. In it, Eunice is shown as Eunice Elizabeth Schreider. Schreider is either a typo or a handwriting transcription problem. Her death is shown as being on November 20, 1922, and states that it is recorded in Book D, page 277, line 72. As yet, this book is not on line at Familysearch. |
