ID # 1728, (1798-)
BirthHenry Woolery was born in 1798 at Canada.
MarriageHe married Sally Martin on 20 November 1824.
A microfilm held at the Archives of Ontario, M1496, entitled Registers of the Parishes of Williamsburg, Matilda, Osnabruck and Edwardsburg (Anglican), shows a marriage record for Henry Woolery and Sally Martin which is dated November 20th, 1824. It shows Henry as being of Matilda and Sally as being of Lisbon, New York. This is almost certainly the town of Lisbon in the county of St. Lawrence, New York. St. Lawrence County is directly across the St. Lawrence River from Matilda Township. The handwriting is of mixed legibility and in places it is quite cramped. That Sally's last name is Martin is questionable, but an examination of the writing on the page itself and other pages, all in the same hand, suggests that Martin is a reasonable interpretation. Add to that the fact that the 1820 and 1830 U.S. censuses show a subtantial representation of the name Martin as residents of St. Lawrence County with nothing in the way of similar names to suggest an alternative. Putting it another way, that Sally's family name was Martin may be open to dispute, but if Martin it isn't, then it will be something similar.

NoteOur list of children for Henry and Sally Woolery is taken from the 1850 census at Owen, Winnebago County, Illinois. All children are shown as being born in Canada. The youngest, Ruben, is again shown as born in Canada in the 1860 census taken at Dobson, Faribault Co., Minnesota. With Henry is wife 'Mary'. Unless Sally had two given names, it would appear that Sally has died and that he has remarried.
