It's of some interest that the family spent some time in Canada. His mother was born there and his eldest sister. A brother was born in Illinois.

Leonard's death registration in Washington State shows his father as Richard Decker and his mother as Ellen Aldridge, born in Canada. It gives his residence as Copalis Beach, Washington. It also shows his middle name as Hazen.
