     Esther Mary Wallen was born on 9 November 1910 in Manistique, Schoolcraft County, Michigan.1,2 Her birth name was Stella Johnson.1 She was the daughter of Einar A Johnson and Emma Mattson.1 She was adopted by Charles H. & Olive WALLEN.3,4 about 1918 after her mother died.1 She married Harold Herman Graves, son of Roswell Herbert Graves and Minnie Lois Downs, on 2 October 1931 in Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon.5 She was left a widow when Harold Herman Graves died on 31 October 1961.6,5 She died on 16 September 2001 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, at age 90.7,2 She was inurned in Park Hill Cemetery, Vancouver, Clark County, Washington.2

Esther's obituary in the The Columbian (Vancouver, WA) on 18 September 2001 read:
"Esther M. Graves, Vancouver. Esther Marie Graves, a Vancouver resident the past 12 years, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, in a local care facility. She was 90. Mrs. Graves, a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church was a former caregiver at Fort Vancouver Convalescent Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1910, in Manistee, Mich. Her maiden name was Wallen. Her husband, Harold, died in 1961, and a son, Clair, died in 1951. Survivors include four daughters, Alice R. Markert of Hualapai, Ariz., Dorothy M. Jackson and Olivia M. Farrar, both of Vancouver, and Lillian E. Hoyt of Hemet, Calif; three sons, Donald H. of Las Vegas, Charles E. of Washington, D.C., and Frederick H. of Salem, Ore; two sisters, Sigrid Wallen of Bend, Ore., and Ellen Sayer of Battle Ground; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. There will be a private inurnment in Park Hill Cemetery. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Latin American Bible and evangelism at The Quiet Hour, P.O. Box 3000, Redlands, CA 92373-1500."4
