     Roswell Herbert Graves was born on 6 May 1918 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.1 He was the son of Roswell Herbert Graves and Minnie Lois Downs.2,3 He died on 15 March 1974 of brain cancer in Salem, Marion County, Oregon, at age 55.4,2

Roswell's obituary in the The Roseburg News-Review on 19 March 1974 read:
"ROSWELL H GRAVES: of Canyonville, died at Salem hospital 18 Mar 1974. Born 10 May 1918 in Oregon. Survivors: mother - Mrs Minnie Graves - Escondido CA; sister Mrs Corrine Hoffpauer - San Bernardino CA; several nephews & nieces including Don & Fred Graves of Salem & Dorothy of Battle Ground WA. Funeral services will be at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses Wednesday afternoon Mar 20 1974; with private interment in the Civil Bend Cem."4

He was buried on 20 March 1974 in Civil Bend Cemetery, Winston, Douglas County, OregonG.4

"Roswell, Jr. never married. He lived with his mother until about 1954, working at various occupations, including beehive inspector for the state of Oregon. In 1954 he was committed to Oregon State Hospital in Salem for a few years, and returned there from time to time later in life."3
