      John Hamilton was born on 25 January 1836 in Ardclinis, Co Antrim, IrelandG.1,2 He was the son of John Hamilton and Rose McCarney.3,4 He has also been reported to have been born on 2 June 1835.5 He immigrated to Ontario with his parents John Hamilton and Rose McCarney in 1847.6 He married Maria Quigley on 14 May 1866 in St Edward the Confessor Church, Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, OntarioG.7 He was named as an heir and executor in his father's (John Hamilton's) will dated 21 July 1866 in Newboro, Leeds County, Ontario.8 He and Maria Quigley lived on a farm on The Stone Road (now Hwy 42), outside Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario. This house is still there.9 He was left a widower when Maria Quigley died on 13 November 1909.10 He died on 21 February 1920 of influenza and pneumonia in Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, at age 84.5 He was buried in St Edward's Cemetery, Bedford Twp, Frontenac County, OntarioG.
