Filed March 25th, 1882 That Joseph lived 106 years, as stated in his death registration as well as on his gravestone (as transcribed by the Bruce-Grey branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society), may be correct. This does not always match on his age as shown on different census years. (This also applies to his wife Charlotte.) It is probably fair to say that he was born in the late 1700s and was a great age when he died. Joseph and Charlotte's registrations of deaths were filed on the same day by family members. Joseph's was filed by his son James; Charlotte's was filed by her son-in-law. James and Joseph, brothers-in-law, must have attended at the registrar's office together, one filing out the form for Joseph and the other for Charlotte. The registrations appear on the same page and are contiguous. |
