A record of marriage for Ambrose and Rachel has not been found. Looking over the 1851 and 1861 censuses, it's evident that they married in the early 1850s. The 1851 census indicates that Rachel's family attended the Church of England. (They were Anglicans.) Public records for Anglican marriages in Upper Canada/Canada West (Ontario) for this era are difficult to find. A marriage record for this couple probably exists in the form of church records.
We only know of Rachel's maiden name from a couple of marriage registrations for her children. |
