A note relating to the birth registrations for the children of Peter and Ethel:

Except where we may note a rather remote location for the child's birth (Edith Helen was born in Owen Sound), it is a near certainty that the children were born at home, in Allan Township, very near Ice Lake. There was apparently no township registrar in Allan at the time and such birth registrations as we have were filed in Gordon Township. Betimes, a post office (Advance) is noted for the postal address of Peter and Ethel. This was also in Gordon, but close to Ice Lake. Gore Bay in Gordon would have been by far and away the only nearby town of any size. The liberty is taken here of showing the place of birth for most of the children as Allan Township. Error, here and there, is possible, but, mostly, this will be correct.

Access has been given me by a Donaldson descendant to an old and worn folder relating to the children of Peter Donaldson and Ethel Lawrence. This is unattributed. The pages are old and worn, though the text is typed. Some information, especially deaths, has been filled in by hand. There is additional information inserted to do with other family connections. Some dates of births and deaths for Donaldson spouses are provided as well as some marriage dates. These have been drawn upon and are being filled out by information such as is being released to Ancestry by the Archives of Ontario. For the moment, the AO's digitization of updates are a little behind the usual due to the lockdowns experienced during the covid pandemic.
