Thomas Lock, 23, bachelor, farmer, Presbyterian. Born Plattsville, residing Dumfries. Parents illeg. and Marg. Lock. Bella Shepherd, 20, spinster, Presbyterian, born Owen Sound, residing Galt. Parents Duncan and Marg. Shepherd. Witnesses Peter Rickton of Dumfries and Fanny Lock of Plattsville. On 17 November, 1875, at Galt, by Rev. D. Smyth. The handwriting of the town clerk at Galt is difficult to decipher, but, no doubt about it, he has written the groom's given name as Thomas and not as Joseph. Joseph may well have had two given names, but such has not been found. Best as may be told, and for the moment, his name is Joseph. |

| Note | Death reg. 026528-33 Woodstock, Oxford Co. Joseph Locke died Oct. 16, 1933, at 136 Main Street, also his residence. Widower. Born Innerkip on October 6, 1852. Age 81 yrs and 10 dys. Length of residence at place of death 1 year. Parents Ascott Locke and Mary Hall, both born England. Physician Janet Hall. Informant Mrs. J. Walters, 136 Main St., daughter. Burial Hillview Cemetery on October 18, 1933. Joseph and Isabella are buried in Hillview's section E. Joseph's daughter gives his place of birth as Innerkip. Joseph himself, apparently, gave his place of birth as Plattsville on his marriage registration. Neither may be entirely accurate, but one or the other may represent a postal address. The family, at the time of the 1851 census, prior to Joseph's birth, was resident in East Zorra Township of Oxford County. They were still resident there in 1861. Joseph's parents, Ascott Locke and Mary Hall, are buried in Innerkip Cemetery. Indeed the Lock (so spelled) family is extensively represented in Innerkip Cemetery. |
