Witnesses Peter Rickton of Dumfries and Fanny Lock of Plattsville. On 17 November, 1875, at Galt, by Rev. D. Smyth. The handwriting of the town clerk at Galt is difficult to decipher, but, no doubt about it, he has written the groom's given name as Thomas and not as Joseph. Joseph may well have had two given names, but such has not been found. Best as may be told, and for the moment, his name is Joseph. |

| Note | See Isabella's death registration below. It shows her place of birth as Owen Sound. At first glance, this seemed counterintuitive until her father's obituary was found which tells of the family spending some seven years in Owen Sound. This was after 1851, when the family was in Galt and before the 1861 census when the family was in Elora of Nichol Township. That in 1855 Isabella, or Bella as she seems to have been known, was born in Owen Sound is quite reasonable. She and Joseph were married in Galt in 1875 and in 1881 they are still present in Galt. When her father died in 1886, his obituary tells that she and her husband resided in Innerkip which is in Oxford County. By the time of the 1891 census, they are in Woodstock, the county seat of Oxford County, and with them are two daughters, Frankie and Maggie, ages 9 and 5. Death reg. 027541-29 Woodstock, Oxford Co. Isabel Shepherd Locke died February 26, 1929, age 73. Married. Housewife. Born Owen Sound Nov. 1, 1855. Place of death 11 Victoria St. N. Time of residence at place of death 4 months. Parents Duncan Shepherd, born Scotland, and Margaret McLeish, born Georgetown. Physician Janet Hall, M.D., Woodstock. Informant Mrs. W. J. Walters, 11 Victoria St. N. Woodstock, daughter.
