Matthew Teeple died 22nd March, 1872. Age 75-1/2 years, farmer. Methodist. Born New Jersey, USA. Physician and informant Dr. Chamberlain, Burford.

According to the 1861 agricultural census for Windham Township, Matthew was on lot 17 of the 1st concession of Windham. This lot, though in Windham Township of Norfolk County, sits on the border of Burford Township of Brant County. Note that the Teeple family has yet to be found in Windham as of the 1871 census, but an undated atlas (it will be from the 1870s) shows a J.C. Teeple on lot 17 of the 1st concession. Casting back to an earlier atlas (c. 1858-1861), the available image has a hole in the paper directly over this lot and so this is no help. This isn't a handicap as we have the 1861 agricultural census for Windham Township to work with, as mentioned above.

Anna Teeple (maiden name not yet known) who died in 1868, and her son Matthew G. Teeple, who died at age 10, are buried in Fairfield Cemetery in the Fairfield Plains area of Burford Township. This is almost due north by not many miles of the Teeple family farm in Windham Township.

Matthew's age, 75-1/2 years, as stated by Dr. Champerlain may or may not be accurate. As mentioned in notes for father Christopher, Matthew was said to be 34 in approximately 1826 and, for the moment, his year of birth is shown as 1792. This may be early by a year or two.

Matthew's wife Anna and their young son are buried in Fairfield Cemetery. The OGS transcription of their surname reads Teefle. Murray Fair's transcription for Internment.net has them correctly as Teeple.

Matthew is not shown as being buried in Fairfield. Since he died in Windham, probably on the family farm, it's reasonable to believe that is indeed buried in Fairfield. Perhaps his gravestone simply has not survived. Anna's gravestone is inscribed for herself as an individual. There does not appear to be a family stone.
