Hannah Hoowee

BirthHannah Hoowee was born on 10 March 1805 at Ireland. 
MarriageShe married James Husband, son of George Husband and Elizabeth White, on 12 December 1827 at Pelham Township, Niagara District.
This marriage record is held by the Canadian Quaker Archives and Library in Newmarket, Ontario. It is identified as Archives: H-7-1 and is catalogued as 'Pelham Monthly Meeting register, Record of Births, Marriages and Deaths, 1790-1856.' It has also been microfilmed and is available at the Archives of Ontario, MS 303, reel 42.

The following appears on page 90:

This identifies the couple as James Husband of the Township of Pelham, County of Lincoln and Province of Upper Canada, son of George Husand and Elizabeth his wife, and Hannah Hoover of Pelham, daughter of John Hoowee and Rebecca his wife.

The couple were married on 12 December, 1827, at a public meeting of the Society of Friends in Pelham. The witnesses were:

And many others.

Hannah's maiden name was hitherto shown in this tree as Hoover. There is sufficent evidence that at least in early days her family's name was written as Hoowee. In later years, we have evidence of James' brother George Husband marrying Susan Hugie, or Huie, or Howey. She was probably a family connection. Susan and Hannah may indeed have been sisters.

At least initially, the list of children we have for James and Hannah is taken from the 1851 census.
