Note | The passing of Mary Elizabeth Husband, the wife of George L. Watson, is recorded in the Acton Free press edition of October 1st, 1891, page 3. This tells that she died in Nassagaweya on 25 September, 1891 (Friday), and that the funeral took place on Sunday morning (which we must believe to be the 27th) and she was buried in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The cemetery's transcription, as presented by the Halton Peel branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, records Mary's gravestone as showing her age at time of death as 35 years, 4 months, and 25 days. Her date of birth is calculated from this. Death reg. 005804-91 Nassagaweya Twp., Halton Co. Mary Elizabeth Watson died 25th September, 1891, age 35. Wife of farmer. Born Nassagaweya. Methodist. Cause of death heart disease 8 months. Physician Dr. Snyder. Reported by Schedule C, Nassagaweya Registered 28th December 1891. Entering the informant with: Reported by Schedule C, Nassagaweya is not typical, though looking forward and back, the clerk for Nassagaweya used this wording with some frequency. A correspondent in an archive has numbers of these advice forms on file. She advises that there were two forms for Schedule C - one for a physician and one for a clergyman. The informant in the above might have been either. (These are not the forms to be found at the Archives of Ontario and which are duplicated on Ancestry or Familysearch. These latter forms show information entered by the township clerk based on the returns - which might have been filed in person or by mail. What the clerk is referring to above as Schedule C, almost certainly came by mail. It's a guess, but physicians and clergy were probably amply supplied with the forms.) |
