NoteAs shown in marriage, Adeline's surname is presented as Breshaw. This name is to be found indexed by Ancestry in the State of Kentucky in the 1850 census. Adeline's name in her death registration, shown below, may be rather closer to what her surname actually was.

As noted, she and Andrew were married by Elisha Durbin, a priest of the Roman Catholic Church. In research Rev. Durbin's name, it is found that he was connected to an academy for young women in Union County, Kentucky. The enumerator of this census in Union County had the unhappy habit of a frequent use of initials for person's names. A student in the academy is shown as A. L. Breshaw, age 14.

This may or may not be Adeline. Her middle initial, R, as shown on her death registration is probably correct, but the 1871 and 1891 Canadian censuses do approximate Adeline's age to 14 at the time of her marriage. Her death registration makes her much closer to 18. We may note that the documentation to be found relating to her marriage to Andrew does include a consent for her marriage from her mother, Pauline, and her step-father Francois Maillot. The paperwork does indicate that her father's name was Seraphin Beshaw and that he was deceased and that her mother was then remarried.

Adeline's age as shown in the 1871 Canadian census at Brantford indicates that she probably was 14 when she married; her age in the 1891 census, again at Brantford, would suggest that she was closer to 15 at the time of her marriage.

Adeline is with Andrew at the time of the 1871 census in Brantford. Andrew was a 'turnkey' in the county jail. The 1891 census at Brantford shows Adeline as a matron at the county jail. This is the last that we find of her in Canada. In later years she was with family in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
