The page is torn off at the right so that Jane's maiden name is not seen in full. Alfred Cunningham was minister at Ainslie Street Methodist Church (present day Wesley United Church). The marriage record for Ainslie Street Methodist for this era appears on microfilm MS005 reel 2. This clarifies the difficult handwriting of the recording clerk at Galt. The church record shows the abbreviation for the given names of father and witness as 'Jno.' and this explains the writing on the registration. The witness 'Jno' was probably Joseph's half brother, John Kirkpatrick Jr. Jane's surname is written here as Phillip. Philp is almost certainly correct. |
