Osborne Township is in the Nippising District, which seems unlikely as a birth place for Charlotte. A survey of census pages indicates that her parents were in Usborne Township, Huron County, at the time of her birth. A birth registration for her has not been found. Joseph's marriage registration shows his mother as Mary, but his death registration shows his mother as Charlotte 'Riffle'. |

| Note | Death reg. 032775-10 East Flamborough Twp., Wentworth Co. Joseph Josiah Burrows died May 6, 1910. Born Oct. 28, 1857. Age 52 years, born Canada. Place of death East Flamborough, lot 7, concession 1. Farmer. Married. Parents Joseph Burrows, born England, and Charlotte 'Riffle', born illeg. U.S. Physician Dr. Speers. Informant Charlotte Burrows, residence illegible. As noted above, Joseph's death registration shows his place of death as lot 7 on the first concession of East Flamborough. Concession is apparently the 'broken front', that is to say lots that have lake frontage and are apparently a part of present day Burlington. A record of Joseph's land ownership has not been found. The witnesses for the marriage of Joseph and Charlotte, however, as shown on the marriage registration are Mr. and Mrs. J. Filman. It does appear that the owner of lot one of the broken front was J. Filman, according to the late 1850s Tremaine map of East Flamborough. |
