NoteRichard and Catherine are in Ottawa at the time of the 1871 census. For whatever reason, the enumerator shows their family name as 'Allan'. Richard is shown as a merchant. We may be assured of having the right family for the names of the children compare well with the 1881 census.

The 1881 census shows Catherine and Richard in Montreal. Going by the birth locations for their several children, the family had been in Ontario until only recently. They apparently lived out their lives in Montreal.

The Drouin Collection, as presented by Ancestry, shows a page from the record book of Emmanuel Congregational Church in Montreal. The pages are unnumbered, but the year is 1908 and the entry records the death of Catherine Lamb Rodden on May 21st, 1908, and her burial in Mt. Royal Cemetery on the 23rd. She is identified as the widow of Richard J. Rodden.
