Note | John Lamb and his wife Mary Dewar appear with all the children for whom we have a list in the 1851 census at Hawkesbury in Prescott County (formerly in the Eastern District.) The oldest child with them, Elizabeth Jane, shows on her marriage registration her pace of birth as Hawkesbury as well as her sister Catherine. The death registration for James Byrne Lamb shows the same. Mary Ann's marriage registration shows her birth place as Hawkesbury. We do not have direct information for the place of birth for William and John, but since all known children are present with the family at the time of the 1851 census, and since John Hercus Lamb, the youngest, is present there, it does appear that all the children were born in Hawkesbury. By the time of the 1861 census, the family is in Ottawa. Death reg. 002843-95 Ottawa, Carleton County John Lamb died May 10, 1895. Age 86. Engineer. Congregationalist. Born Falkirk, Scotland. Physician H. P. Wright. Informant J. B. Lamb. Ancestry has images of the pages of the Beechwood Cemetery interment register. This shows John's late residence as 294 Gilmore Street and his year of birth as November 9, 1809 in Falkirk, Scotland. It shows his date of death as May 10, 1895, and his burial as May 12 at 3PM. This also tells that his father was James Lamb. His mother's name is omitted. |
